Biographical or historical data
James Morrison was born in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on 24 March 1795. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1814. Ordained on 15 November 1817, Morrison was Installed at New Providence Church, Rockbridge County, Virginia on 25 September 1819. This was his only charge, and it extended for 38 years. He married Frances Brown (d. 1876) 29 June 1820. Morrison died on 14 November 1870 in Buckingham County, Virginia and was buried in New Providence Presbyterian Church graveyard.
