Biographical or historical data
William Gregory was born 12 May 1767 in King William County, Virginia, to Roger Gregory (1729-1803) and Mary Cole Claiborne Gregory (1730-1771). He was a successful planter and served as a justice of the county court. Gregory represented King William County in the House of Delegates from 1798 to 1799, 1801 to 1807, and 1815 to 1816. He married Ann Sutherland (ca. 1768-1841), and they had four children. Gregory died at his home "Elsing Green" 21 January 1840.
