Biographical or historical data
George Hannah (1780-1870) was the son of Andrew Hannah (d. 1793) and Anne Cunningham Hannah. Andrew Hannah had been a revolutionary soldier and ran an ordinary in Charlotte County, Virginia. George Hannah served as the captain of Hannah's Cavalry Unit, 26th Regiment, 2nd Battalion of the Virginia militia. Hannah became a successful planter in Charlotte County. George Hannah established his family home at "Gravel Hill" in Charlotte County. He married first Patsy Brent 7 November 1805. Hannah married second Lucy Morton in December 1816. Their son George Cunningham Hannah (1817-1888) also was a successful planter and was a member of Cub Creek Presbyterian Church. After the Civil War, he served on the school board of Roanoke Township. He married Anne Eliza Spragins (1827-1873) in 1842, and they had at least 4 children.
