Lula Dora Carpenter, daughter of William Jonathan and Ann Elizabeth Beasley Carpenter, was born on 23 April 1874 in Woodville, Rappahannock County, Virginia. She married Charles Hubert Fox (1872-1945) on 20 June 1900 in Rappahannock County. They had two sons.
