Biographical or historical data
Arthur Maxim Coppage was born 8 June 1915 in Hale, Missouri. Coppage graduated from the University of Missouri and served in the United States army during World War II. He worked as an assistant archivist for the United States government. Coppage was a prominent genealogist and compiled several works on Virginia, Kentucky, and Missouri. In 1955 he moved to California where he taught in Concord, California. Coppage was married twice and had a son by each marriage. His second wife was Nora O'Dell Ormsbee (d. 1997). Coppage died 22 February 1998 in Walnut Creek, California, and was cremated and his ashes buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
