Biographical or historical data
John Terrill was born in 1727 in that part of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, which later became Orange County, Virginia, to Robert Terrill (ca. 1697-1786) and Mary Foster Terrill (d. ca. 1785). He moved to that part of Culpeper County, Virginia, which later became Madison County, Virginia, by 1787. Terrill and his wife Ann Elizabeth Towles Terrill (1739-1805) had four children. Terrill died between 18 January 1803, when he wrote his will, and 24 March 1803, when it was proved in the Madison County court.
