Biographical or historical data
John Richardson was born about 1756 in Cumberland County, Virginia, to John Richardson (d. 1767) and Sarah Cook. He settled on land in Charlotte County, Virginia, that he inherited from his father and became a successful planter. Richardson received commissions in the Charlotte County militia, reaching the rank of captain. He also served as sheriff in Charlotte County in 1821. Richardson married Rebekah Davis (d. 1829) 30 April 1775, and they had twelve children. Richardson died in Charlotte County 30 June 1822.
