  • Land grant, 1 July 1853, of James Dixon for 38 3/16 acres of land (surveyed 12 February 1852, pursuant to Treasury Warrant Number 18,932) in Hampshire County, (West) Virginia. The grant adjoined Dixon's land on Alleghany Mountain and was located in that part of Hampshire County which later became Mineral County, West Virginia. The instrument was signed by Joseph Johnson (1785-1877), Governor of Virginia, and the Lesser Seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia is affixed to the grant
  • A copy of this grant is recorded in Northern Neck Grants F, Number 2, 1847-1859, p. 424. There is also a notation on the grant which indicates it was also recorded in Mineral County Deed Book 1, p. 254
