Biographical or historical data
Isaac Cohen was born June 16 1843 in Prussia. Emigrating to the United States with his parents and family, he settled in Richmond, Virginia. Cohen operated a dry goods store during and after the Civil War, called Cohen Brothers. Cohen Brothers prospered in the post-war era. After his brother's death, the company became Cohen Co., Inc. Isaac Cohen married Hannah Sycle 3 November 1875, and they had no children. Cohen died 13 November 1918 in Richmond, and was buried in the Hebrew Cemetery.
