Biographical or historical data
Basil B. Bullock was born in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, in 1828 and became a farmer. He received a commission as 1st lieutenant in the 16th regiment, 1st Brigade, 2nd Division of the Virginia militia from Governor Henry A. Wise (1806-1876). During the Civil War, he rose to the rank of major in the Virginia Naval Battalion. Bullock married Mary M. Bell (b. 1838) 5 November 1857 and they had at least 3 children. He died from an accidental gun shot wound 25 December 1874.
