Recollections, n.d., of Louisa Emmerson (1819-1907) of Portsmouth, Virginia, consisting of reminiscences of Portsmouth and Norfolk County, Virginia, including a biographical sketch of her father Arthur Emmerson (1778-1842), Emmerson family history, history and description of Portsmouth and Norfolk County, information on William Craford (d. 1761) founder of Portsmouth, information on families and homes in Portsmouth during the 19th century, reminiscences of Trinity Church and the Glebe, and recollection of a visit by the Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834). Also includes accounts of her visits to New York, Virginia's Eastern Shore, and various places in western Virginia. Reminiscences also include photographs of Louisa Emmerson and her family, as well as photographs of various locations mentioned in the reminiscences taken in the 19th and 20th centuries.
