Biographical or historical data
William McClure was possibly William McClure (McCluer) of Rockbridge County, Virginia, who was born in Orange County, Virginia, in 1739 to Samuel McClure (1709-1779) and Mary Kelso (b. 1711). He settled in that part of Augusta County, Virginia, which became Rockbridge County in 1778. He married Jean Trimble (b. ca. 1741) 26 December 1769 and they had nine children. William McClure died between 17 June 1785, when he wrote his will, and 1 November 1785, when it was proved in the Rockbridge County Court.
