Transcript of the will, 18 September 1731, of John Yeates (d. ca. 1731) of Nansemond County, Virginia, in which he leaves much of his estate for the suppport of two free schools in Nansemond County. The rest of his estate includes specific bequests to the Lower Parish of Nansemond County, family, friends, and his slaves. There is no recordation date for the will and the record book containing this instrument is no longer extant. Also includes notes, n.d., by William Turner Jordan (1835-1922) of Nansemond County giving some history on the schools Yeates established
