Biographical or historical data
Samuel Bettle was born in 1774, the son of Quaker parents, Samuel and Sarah Davis Bettle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Jane Temple in Kennett, Chester County, Pennsylvania, on 24 June 1802 and together they reared eight children. Jane Temple Bettle was born 21 November 1773 and died 13 April 1840. Samuel Bettle was a businessperson in Philadelphia for over sixty-five years and died there on 12 April 1861.
