Will, 13 March 1789, of John Staton (ca. 1748-1789) of Buckingham County, Virginia. Will was recorded in Buckingham County 14 December 1789. The will book which contained this instrument is no longer extant. A certified copy (made 6 August and certified 9 August 1819) was sent from Buckingham County to Adair County, Kentucky, and was recorded in Adair County Will Book C on 3 January 1820. There is also certification, 15 June 1983, from the clerk of the Adair County Court that this copy is a true copy

Biographical or historical data
John Staton was born about 1748. He owned a plantation in Buckingham County, Virginia. Staton married Mary Dameron about 1769, and they had nine children. Staton died between 13 March 1789, when his will was written, and 14 December 1789, when it was proven in Buckingham County Court.
