Biographical or historical data
Marie Gordon Pryor Rice was born April 1850 to Roger A. Pryor (1828-1919) and Sarah Agnes Rice Pryor (1830-1912). She grew up in Charlotte County, Virginia, but after the Civil War moved to New York, New York, with her parents. She moved back to Charlotte County after her marriage to Henry Crenshaw Rice (1842-1916). They had at least four children. Rice and her husband later moved to Nottoway County.
