Biographical or historical data
The Robert E. Lee Camp, No. 1, Confederate Veterans Soldiers' Home opened on Jan. 1, 1885, in the corner of Grove Ave. and the Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia. It was incorporated on Mar. 13, 1885. Plaged with financial difficulties, the home deeded its property to the state, under the direction of the Dept. of Welfare, until it closed in 1941, upon the death of its last resident.
