Affidavit, 20 Aug. 1855, submitted and signed by Mary Henderson Bane (1779-1861) of Giles and Montgomery Counties, Virginia declaring her status as the widow of James Bane (1754-1850), who served in the 84th Regiment, Virginia Militia in the War of 1812. Also includes a discharge certificate, 12 Feb. 1818, signed by the mustering officer as evidence of Bane's service

Biographical or historical data
Mary Henderson was born 3 Oct. 1779 the daughter of John and Mary O'Brien Henderson. On 31 Dec. 1801 she married James Bane (1754-1850) in Montgomery County, Virginia. The couple also lived in Giles County following its formation from part of Montgomery county in 1806. She died in 1861.
