Ledger, 1909-1915, of highway engineer William Frederick Alfred Anson (d. 1916) noting information concerning projects in Bedford, Bland, Grayson, Montgomery, Pulaski, Smyth, Washington and Wythe Counties, Virginia. For some projects there are daily journal entries noting construction activity for each day. Other road projects list expenses incurred including payroll and salary and supplies costs. There are also mentions of the use of convicts as labor. Within this collection there is also a daily diary, 7 April 1914-24 August 1915, kept by William Frederick Alfred Anson

Biographical or historical data
William Frederick Alfred Anson was the son of Alfred W. and Georgina Frances Green Anson. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1900. He was a surveyor and engineer with the Virginia Department of Highways in Russell County. Anson married Vera Louise Seay on 14 October 1915 and died the following year on 19 July.
