Wilson (1900-1988), pastor of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church in Augusta County concerning the papers of the Gilkeson family; and three letters of transfer, dated 17 April 1776, 30 April 1776, 19 May 1780, for William (1750-1828) and Sarah Gilkeson (1752-1826), enabling them to change their membership between Presbyterian churches in Pennsylvania, Frederick County, Virginia, and Augusta County. Biographical or historical data
William Gilkeson was born 29 August 1750 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to William Gilkeson (d. 1778) and Margaret Lynn Gilkeson. The younger Gilkeson married Sarah Love, who was born 29 August 1752. They moved to Frederick County, Virginia, in 1776, and to Augusta County, Virginia, in 1780. The Gilkesons had 8 children, and Sarah Gilkeson had one child from a previous marriage. Sarah Gilkeson died 27 June 1826 and William Gilkeson died 3 July 1828.
