Biographical or historical data
Born in England, Martha Hayward came to Virginia about 1677, using money left to her by her brother John Washington (1634-1677). She married Samuel Hayward (d. 1696) who was the clerk of the Stafford County court and who represented Stafford County, Virginia, in the House of Burgesses in 1685-1686. Martha Hayward died by 8 December 1697.
