Biographical or historical data
David Wolfe Eaton was born in 1862 in Kittaning, Pennsylvania. He moved with his family to Versailles, Morgan County, Missouri, where he received his education. Eaton served as a county surveyor, then went to work for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, helping to survey the U.S.-Canadian border. He later worked in Alaska and in the District of Columbia. Eaton retired to Westmoreland County, Virginia, where he worked on his historical atlas of the county. Eaton died in Westmoreland County in 1947.
