Biographical or historical data
Edmund Berkeley (1730-1806) of King William County, Virginia, fathered 10 children by his second wife, Mary Burwell Berkeley. One son, Carter Burwell Berkeley (ca. 1775-1821) represented King William County in the House of Delegates from 1810 to 1811. Another, Lewis, moved to Loudoun County, Virginia. He had 10 children, including Edmund Berkeley (1823-1915) who settled in Prince William County, Virginia. Edmund Berkeley served as a lieutenant colonel in the 8th Virginia infantry during the Civil War.
