Letter, 21 December 1840, from A. D. Pollock (1807-1890) of Richmond, Virginia, to A. J. Leavenworth (1803-1869) of Petersburg, Virginia concerning the possibility of publishing the SENTINAL in Richmond, and informing Leavenworth of support in the Presbyterian convention for such a move. He also notes the number of subscriptions that need to be sold, and discusses possible editors, including Leavenworth. Pollock also mentions Leavenworth's preaching and the failure of having a revival in Richmond

Biographical or historical data
Abraham David Pollock was born 22 January 1807 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to Thomas Pollock (1772-1847) and Rachel Hendricks Pollock (d. 1807). He attended Jefferson College (now Washington and Jefferson College) in Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1829. Pollock attended Western Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from 1829 to 1832, and was licensed by the Blairsville, Pennsylvania Presbytery in November 1832. Ordained in 1833 by the Winchester, Virginia, Presbytery, Pollock was a mission agent in Virginia from 1833 to 1835. He served as pastor of Grace Street Church in Richmond, Virginia, from 1835 to 1843. Pollock then moved to Fauquier County, Virginia, in 1843, then to Wilmington, Delaware, from 1852 to 1855. He returned to Virginia to serve as pastor at the Rapidan and Bethesda churches from 1855 to 1872. Retiring in 1873, he moved to Warrenton, Fauquier County, where he died 3 May 1890. Pollock married Elizabeth Gordon Lee (1813-1897) 25 November 1835, and they had 6 children. Pollock was the nephew of Indiana governor William Hendricks (1782-1850) and the cousin of Thomas A. Hendricks (1819-1885), United States Congressman and Senator, governor of Indiana, and vice president of the United States.
