Brower (b. 1845) of Caroline County, Virginia to railroad president Samuel McDowell Tate (1830-1897) of North Carolina and Richmond, Virginia concerning possible employment with the railroads for both him and his father Ezekiel Brower (b. 1813). The Browers previously worked as engineers for the Fredericksburg, Richmond & Potomac Railroad but claim in the letter that they were terminated due to company financial constraints
