Biographical or historical data
Born 5 December 1836 in Buckingham County, Virginia, Nathan W. Ayres was the son of John B. Ayres (1794-1859) and his second wife Mary Marshall Moseley Ayres. A farmer, Nathan W. Ayres served in the Confederate army and served in Company F, 20th Virginia infantry, and in Company A, 57th Virginia infantry. He married Mary V. Harris December 1867 and they had 1 daughter. Ayres died in 1873.
