Florence Massie Tunstall Horsley was born 30 June 1847 in Nelson County, Virginia, to William Massie (1795-1862) and Maria C. Massie (1814-1889). She married John L. Tunstall (1845-1877) of Lynchburg, Virginia, 16 December 1868 and had two children. After his death, she married John D. Horsley (1849-1909) of Nelson County, 23 February 1879. They had four children. Horsley, a practicing attorney in Nelson County and in Lynchburg, moved his wife and family to Lynchburg in 1894 when he was elected to the circuit court. While Judge Horsley was active in law and business, Mrs. Horsley was active in social and benevolent matters. She died 4 March 1912 in Lynchburg.
