Letter, dated 22 September 1862, written by Aaron Wood (ca. 1843-1863) to his parents while he was serving with the 30th Ohio Infantry. The letter was written to his parents from Camp Convalescent near Alexandria, less than a month after he joined his unit. He writes about his health and that of his unit, camp life, the desolation of the countryside, and his observations of Alexandria. Also included is a patriotic envelope in which this letter was enclosed, entitled "History of Our Flag."

Aaron Wood was born circa 1843. He resided in Dublin, Franklin County, Ohio. He served with Company E of the 30th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. He died on 20 May 1863 in a hospital at Young's Point, Louisiana.
