These minutes cover the period from 24 October 1851 to 14 August 1936. The volume is intended to be a literal transcription of the original manuscript. Included are accounts of the organization of the association, principles of faith, constitution, rules of decorum, churches, delegates, and other data. At the end of each session are listed the ministers and their post office addresses. Included also are obituaries of recently deceased prominent ministers. The volume was transcribed by John Preston McConnell

Biographical or historical data
Stony Creek Association was formed on 24 October 1851 pursuant to an order of the Washington District Association, from which nine churches were dismissed to organize Stony Creek. The association grew until the membership included not only several other southwest Virginia churches but also some in Tennessee. The association represented the counties of Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, and Wise.
