Diary, 7 May 1771-September 1771, of John Williams, of Lunenburg County, Virginia, a Baptist preacher travelling in Lunenburg and Mecklenburg Counties, as well as other parts of Virginia, consisting of a description of his journeys, the people he met, religous services, revivals, and other happenings relating to his ministry. Williams describes travelling to an association meeting, preaching in his churches, and visiting with those who lived within his churches' boundaries

Biographical or historical data
John Williams was born in Hanover County, Virginia, in 1747. By 1769, he was living in Lunenburg County, Virginia, where he was sheriff. Williams became a Baptist minister, being baptized in 1770 and becoming a full minister in 1771. He was minister at the Meherrin Church in Lunenburg County and Allen's Creek Church in Mecklenburg County. In 1785 he moved to Charlotte County, Virginia, where he served the Sandy Creek Church. Williams also served the Blue Stone Church in Mecklenburg County from 1786 to 1794, when it received its own full time preacher. Married, Williams died 30 April 1795.
