Summary
  • Sessional record, 1825-1864, including minutes which cover the period, 23 October 1825-9 October 1831 and March 1837-10 April 1864. These minutes record admission of new members, dismissals, and baptisms. The gap may be explained on page 25 by the remark that the clerk had moved West and left no record of the minutes for this period. (Accession 23594)
  • Sessional record, 1863-1901, including minutes which cover the period, 12 April 1863-26 March 1901. These minutes contain baptisms in addition to lists of persons joining, especially at revival services in the 1880's. Also includes membership lists for 1875, 1880, and 1886. (Accession 23595)

Biographical or historical data
Cove Presbyterian Church at Covesville, Virginia located near the Nelson County line is believed to have been organized about 1785. Since some of the members lived in the area which was first Amherst County and later Nelson County, not far from Rockfish Presbyterian Church, a close association developed between the two churches. At one point, both churches reached an agreement to send delegates alternately to the Presbytery and the Synod.
