Summary
Papers, 1959-1969, of Charles H. Peebles of Richmond, Virginia, consisting of copies of appraisals, deeds, legislative acts, letters, memorandums, plats, and other public documents regarding the old Henrico County, Virginia, courthouse. The property was deeded 19 October 1751 by James Cocke to the county for use as a courthouse site with a reversionary right should it cease to be used by the county in that capacity. Papers concern the approach the county is going to take concerning the return of the property once the courthouse is moved, including appraisement for value. Of interest is a legislative act passed by the Virginia general assembly on 28 February 1898 stating that although the Henrico County courthouse now fell within the city limits of Richmond, it would still be considered part of Henrico County
