The Patterson family were residents of Wytheville, Virginia. Albert C. Patterson was born on 30 September 1872. He married Jemima Boyd Cassell in 1902. The had a son Curtis Boyd Patterson (1907-1912) and a daughter Jemima Cassell Patterson (1910-2002). Jemima attended Marion College, and later taught school in Ivanhoe and Radford. She married George C. Foltz. The resided in Draper, Pulaski County, Virginia.
