Biographical or historical data
John D. McGill (1806-1855) was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and graduated from the College of William and Mary. He began his legal practice in Middlesex County, Virginia in 1826. He later moved to King and Queen County, Virginia, where be was the commonwealth's attorney. In 1849 he moved to Kentucky where he was a trustee of the Covington Theological Institute.
