Biographical or historical data
Charles Ellis, Jr. was born in Richmond, Virginia on 28 March 1817 to Charles (1772-1840) and Margaret Keeling [Nimmo] Ellis. Educated at the University of Virginia, he was a merchant, like his father, and president of the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad. He never married and died in Richmond on 21 July 1900.
