Biographical or historical data
The Washington-Henry Academy was founded as the Hanover Academy 26 January 1778 and changed its name to the Washington-Henry Academy 4 May 1778. Incorporated by the state in 1802, the academy accepted girls into the school by 1812. Washington Henry Academy operated into the 20th century.
