Will, 29 April 1757, of John Wooldridge (ca. 1678-1757) of Chesterfield County, Virginia. Also included is an order relevant to examination of witnesses to prove the will, and five subsequent depositions relating to the disposition of Wooldridge's estate, especially his bequest to his daughter Mary Trabue (ca. 1715-1789) and her husband Jacob Trabue (ca. 1705-1767). The will was presented for proving on 7 October 1757. However, recordation was not made until 5 May 1759. See Order Book 2, 1754-1759, pages 352, 364, and 525. The will is not included in the regular will book for Chesterfield County

Biographical or historical data
John Wooldridge was born about 1678 in either England or Scotland. He emigrated to Virginia as an indentured servant, settling in that part of Henrico County which became Chesterfield County, Virginia. He learned the blacksmith trade and upon the end of his indenture, plied that trade and also became a successful farmer. He and his wife Martha Osborne [?] Wooldridge (b. ca. 1688) had six children. Wooldridge died between 29 April 1757, when his will was written, and 7 October 1757, when the will was submitted to the Chesterfield County Court for recordation.
