Principal correspondents include Sarah Ann (Bouldin) Osborne (1844-1920), Angelina Dabney (Bouldin) Crowder (1847-1929), and Martha Drucilla (Bouldin) Williams (1849-1918). Many of the letters pertain to the death of their brother Charles Bedford Bouldin (1855-1911) and the settlement of his estate. There are also letters written to William D. Bouldin from individuals he served with during the Civil War regarding Confederate reunions and news of other comrades. Also contained in the collection is information on the 18th Virginia Infantry, including battles fought, numbers of troops involved, killed in action, wounded, and a list of officers.
