He writes about his return trip home from visiting her, his stay with his daughter Susan Elizabeth (Roy) Carter (1833-1902) and her husband at "Pampatike" in King William, leaving his daughter Fannie W. Roy (b. ca. 1844) with them due to her toothache, and finding his daughters Mary M. Roy (b. ca. 1847) and Ellen D. Roy (b. ca. 1848) sick upon his return home to "Green Plains." He also mentions the prospect of a successful crop harvest, and his regrets at not meeting his daughter's husband John Coles Rutherfoord (1825-1866) while he was visiting

Biographical or historical data
Wiliam Henry Roy was born in 1800. He was the son of James H. Roy (1776-1825) and Elizabeth Booth (1773-1813). He resided at "Green Plains" in Mathews County, Virginia. Roy married 1) Ann Seddon (1808-1834) in 1825. Following her death, he married 2) Euphan Washington Macrae (1815-1881). William H. Roy died in Mathews County on 5 January 1859.
