William Henry Shelton (1840-1932) was the son of Joseph (1808-1878) and Mary (1811-1856) Shelton of Bloomfield, New York. He served with the New York 1st Light Artillery during the Civil War. He was an artist-illustrator in New York after the war and worked for LESLIE'S, HARPER'S, CENTURY, and the NEW YORK LEDGER.
