Letters, 1853 and n.d., of the Winfree family of Lynchburg, Virginia. There are two letters. The first is written by Jane Margaret Brown (b. 1821) in Ballsville, Powhatan County, to her father Christopher Winfree (1785-1858). The second is written to Christopher Valentine Winfree (1826-1902) from his cousin "Bettie" in Buckingham County. Biographical or historical data
Christopher Winfree was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia on 23 October 1785. He was the son of Valentine Winfree and Lucy Cheatham. He was a tobacco merchant in Lynchburg. Winfree married 1) Polly Warwick; 2) Cornelia Meyer Tilden. Christopher Winfree died on 12 December 1858.
