Summary
Selected papers, 1639-1683, of the Filmer family including correspondence of Henry Filmer of Mulberry Island, Virginia, and his nephew Robert, in England; and legal documents concerning the carrying out of his affairs in England. The first letter, from Henry Filmer to Mr. Young, London, refers to a voyage to Virginia on the "John Ambrose" made in 1652/53, noting that in error they missed their ship and had to be rowed out to Gravesend at great cost but at last, "Wee are all well & safe aboard."
