Letters, 1782-1827, of George Washington (1732-1799) and others consisting of a letter from Elizabeth Parke Custis to a General Harper, dated 8 February 1821, concerning her divorce from Thomas Law and his intention to re-marry; a letter from Bartholomew Dandridge to a Colonel Wadsworth, dated 7 March 1782, regarding the administration of the estate of John Parke Custis and an application for relief due to deprivations suffered as a result of the quartering of French troops on his plantation; and a letter to Mary Anna Randolph Custis from her mother, Mary Lee Fitzhugh Custis, dated 21 May 1827, containing mostly family news. Also includes a letter from Charles Cotesworth Pinckney to a Judge Johnson, dated 14 November 1820, and concerns Washington's command during the Battles of Brandywine and Germantown. The first three letters are from the Washington Collection and the last one is from the Pinckney Collection at the University of Chicago
