Biographical or historical data
Colonel John Chiswell (ca. 1710-1766) of Hanover County, Virginia, represented Hanover County in the house of Burgesses for thirteen years. He lost his property in a bad investment, and moved to WIlliamsburg in about 1753. In 1766 he stabbed a merchant in Cumberland County, but was released, and died soon afterwards, either of suicide or hypertension.
