Biographical or historical data
John F. Wiley was born about 1793 in Amelia County, Virginia, where he became a successful planter. He served on the Governor's Council from 1843 to 1851, including a stint as lieutenant governor. Wiley represented Amelia County in the House of Delegates from 1835 to 1837 and from 1840 to 1841. Wiley also served as United States Marshal for the eastern district of Virginia in the 1850s. He and his wife Mary (b. ca. 1800) had children. Wiley died in Amelia County 2 July 1876.
