John Glover (b. 1732) of Massachusetts served in the local militia and after the outbreak of the Revolutionary War became an officer and rose to the rank of general before the end of the war. His troops were present in the conflict surrounding Boston and carried the forces of General George Washington over the Delaware River before the Battle of Trenton in December, 1776.
