  • This accession consists of an inkjet reproduction of a single sixteen page volume entitled "Davis Bros., Inc., Modern Homes." The Richmond, Virginia, architectural and building firm distributed the pamphlet in 1924, at the Better Homes and Building Exposition, May 3-10, at the Richmond Coliseum on Broad Street. The volume consists of photographs and floor plans for Davis Bros., Inc., designs in Richmond and the surrounding area
  • Also included are three loose sheets. One sheet contains the itinerary for the week-long exposition. The second is a financing handout from Guaranty Trust Company, Richmond. And the final attachment is a small flyer for the Real Estate Department of Davis Bros., Inc., that features an illustration of a street scene on Maplewood Avenue in Richmond. The drawing depicts the company's designs for residential housing

Biographical or historical data
The Davis Brother, Inc. construction firm of Richmond, Virginia, began as C. W. Davis and Brother in 1892. The company heavily influenced the design and construction of homes in Richmond's Fan District and West End. Though they practiced in a number of styles and were involved in all aspects of building from design to land speculation, the firm is best known for its Arts and Crafts style structures. Davis Brothers, Inc., also functioned as property developers under the name Davis Land Company. J. Lee Davis (1868-1952) served as president of the firm with C. W. Davis as vice-president and treasurer. Davis Brothers, Inc., ceased operations in 1933.
