- John Sacrey was probably John H. Sacrey who was born ca. 1838 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A bricklayer, he enlisted in Company A, 30th Virginia Infantry, and was detached for duty at a battery. According to records, Sacrey never returned and was considered a deserter. He also apparently spent time as a fireman for the Confederate Navy. He and his wife Mary Jane Sacrey (ca. 1842-1921) had six children. Sacrey died 20 July 1906 in Fredericksburg. A John L. Sacra was a member of Company D, 30th Virginia, and apparently was never taken prisoner by Union troops.
