- Frank Huger was born 29 September 1837 in Phoebus, Virginia, the son of Benjamin Huger (1805-1877). He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1860 and was commissioned in the 10th Infantry. When the Civil War began, Huger resigned his commission and was appointed a captain of artillery in the Confederate army. Huger and his command served in the Seven Days, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Knoxville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor, and the siege of Petersburg, and he rose to the rank of colonel. Huger was captured at the battle of Sayler's Creek 6 April 1865. After the war, Huger was a superintendent for the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He died 10 June 1897.
