- William M. Beard was born in Williamsport, Maryland on 21 March 1888. He graduated from Dickinson College (1912), received his master's degree at Pennslyvania State University, and earned a LL.B. degree from Rutgers University. Beard practiced law in Westfield, New Jersey. He was Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. William M. Beard died on 27 August 1976, and is buried in River View Cemetery in Williamsport, Maryland.
